Mr. Freeman is a former Chief Meteorologist for a television station in Wichita, Kansas, with a 41-year career in broadcasting in the United States. A Past President of the National Weather Association, he has been recognized by the United States National Weather Service for his contributions to national severe weather warning policy. More recently, Mr. Freeman was selected for the Distinguished Service Award by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters, its highest individual honor, and was inducted into the Kansas Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame. He is also the only two-time winner of Broadcaster of the Year by the National Weather Association.
Mr. Freeman is a Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Instructor Development Course Staff Instructor and a Diveheart handicapped scuba Instructor. He served on the Board of Directors of the United States National Weather Association Foundation, which provides grants and scholarships to students and teachers in the atmospheric sciences.
Mr. Freeman holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Illinois, a Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University, and an undergraduate degree from Marietta College.
A citizen of the United States, Mr. Freeman has served in various capacities with local and regional Bahá’í institutions there.
